What is Nea & how does it work?
The NEA also aims to transform energy consumption patterns in line with the clean and low-carbon development trend, intensify the substitution of clean and low-carbon energy, and drive energy-saving, pollution reduction, and carbon reduction in the energy sector.
What will Nea do next year?
The tone of next year's work will be seeking progress while maintaining stability, Zhang Jianhua, head of the NEA, told a national energy work conference. He stressed efforts to safeguard energy security, boost oil and gas exploitation, and improve the country's capability of a safe and sound power supply.
Is Nea rethinking natural gas policy?
Revisions to the previous policy adopted in 2012 are in keeping with changes that have taken place in usage of natural gas, an NEA official said in a question and answer session with media representatives, citing demand for heating from clean energy as one example.
How has national security impacted our energy supply?
We have adhered to a holistic approach to national security, focusing on enhancing domestic resource production capabilities to ensure our energy independence. The stability and security of our energy supply have reached new heights. From 2013 to 2023, total primary energy production increased by 35%.
Who is a priority user of natural gas?
The new policy has kept households, industrial consumers and the likes of hospitals and schools as priority users of natural gas, allowing local government and related bodies to provide tax and financing support among other benefits. Gas-based manufacturing of methanol and other petrochemicals will be restricted under the new policy.
